About Active Directory (AD)
Active Directory (AD) is a technology created by Microsoft that provides a variety of network services including LDAP directory services, Kerberos-based authentication, Domain Name System (DNS) naming, secure access to resources, and more.
You can configure Active Directory by navigating to Settings > Directory Services management.
In Access Appliance, AD domain can be used as a domain for users and groups that can have administrator role for the appliance.
Note that a user that is used to join the AD domain must have permission to search and list users/groups in the domain and to list all user's/ group's information.
The search and list permissions are needed to facilitate various other actions that are available through CLISH and UI.
