About Access Appliance licenses
Access Appliance supports the following types of licenses:
Trialware: A built-in evaluation license, which is automatically activated after the appliance initial configuration is completed and is valid for 60 days.
Subscription: A time-bound license that must be renewed at the end of the expiration date. Support and maintenance is included in the time period.
Perpetual: An unlimited validity license with a one-time cost for using the appliance.
Starting with version 8.2, you can add multiple subscription licenses to increase the total cumulative licensed capacity and the subscription period. You can also license a subset of the total usable storage capacity based on your storage requirements. With partial licensing, you can purchase a license based on your used capacity rather than the usable capacity of the appliance.
The following terminology is used to define the storage capacity:
Licensed: Storage capacity for which a license is purchased.
Used: Storage capacity that is used for data. Alerts are generated if the used storage is more than the licensed storage.
Available: Total storage capacity of the appliance.
Overutilized: Storage utilization that exceeds the licensed capacity.
