Preserving MAC address for application instances
This feature enables application instances to retain the MAC address of the parent host interface across application stop and start events. Configuration is managed exclusively through an API endpoint.
Prerequisites:
All application instances must be offline before toggling between and modes.
Only users with the permission are authorized to perform this operation.
Managing the configuration
The Preserve MAC address setting can be toggled between and modes using API only. When the setting is enabled, a persistent informational message is displayed in the Flex Appliance console.
This appliance is configured to use the network interfaces' MAC addresses for the application instances.
The MAC address remains consistent across multiple stop/start cycles.
While the configuration is being applied across cluster nodes:
Start and Relocate operations are blocked.
Software updates are blocked until the appliance reaches a steady state.
Note:
When a system reboot occurs during an active MAC address assignment operation, the activity monitor may display two tasks upon successful node recovery. The original task, which was initiated prior to the reboot event, will transition to a failed state due to process interruption. However, system continuity is maintained through an automated recovery mechanism that creates a new task post-reboot, ensuring that the MAC address configuration changes are successfully applied to the target interfaces.
