NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 8731

Message: The subject name of the certificate is not in the valid format.

Explanation: The subject name that you want to reset or delete from the database is not in the RFC 2253 format.

Recommended Action: Do one of the following:

  • If you want to provide the subject name using the OpenSSL or the vxsslcmd API, ensure that it is in the RFC 2253 format. Use the following command:

    • Install_Path/goodies/vxsslcmd x509 -noout -in input certificate file -subject -nameopt RFC2253 or openssl x509 -noout -in input certificate file -subject -nameopt RFC2253

  • Retrieve the subject name either using the NetBackup web UI (external certificate list view) or the nbhostmgmt command.
