NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 6709

Message: Unable to run the command.

Explanation: During a backup and restore operation NetBackup runs several Mongo commands. One of these commands has failed.

This issue can arise when communication with the Cassandra database is interrupted.

Recommended Action: Multiple workloads can show this error. Review the following information for your specific workload.

When performing a backup or restore of a MongoDB, review the following:

  • Refer to the mdbserver logs to find the error code and refer to the MongoDB Administrator's Guide for the reason of the failure based on the error code. If running an incremental backup on MongoDB version 4.4 or later, then ensure to have the mongodump utility installed. After installation, retry the operation and if the issue persists, visit the Veritas Technical Support website. The Veritas Technical Support website offers additional information to help you troubleshoot this issue.

  • When certificate-based authentication is enabled, differential incremental backups may fail. Refer to the mdbserver logs to find the error code and command details. If the mdbserver logs indicate a mongodump command failure, try running the mongodump command manually on the MongoDB host and check the error. If the mongodump command fails with X509 certificate-related connection errors, you must fix these errors by updating the MongoDB server certificates with the subjectAltName property as per the MongoDB documentation. Then retry the differential incremental backup.

When performing a backup or restore of a Cassandra database, perform the following as appropriate:

  • Check SSH sessions for production nodes. The CBR node should be able to use SSH to connect to the production nodes.

  • Ensure that the CBR node is running and reachable.

  • Verify that nbcbr process is running. If the process is not running, manually clear the folder that is specified in the Cassandra configuration file on Cassandra cluster nodes and retry the backup operation again.
