Cohesity Cloud Scale Technology Manual Deployment Guide for Kubernetes Clusters

Decoupling of NetBackup Database Manager from primary server

In Cloud Scale Technology, NetBackup Database Manager (BPDBM) is implemented as a StatefulSet deployed by the NetBackup operator. BPDBM capabilities that is, catalog management, interface to policy, schedule, image and media databases and so on are decoupled from the primary server and reside in a separate Kubernetes service.

BPDBM service is dependent on web services and comprises a single BPDBM pod. Requests to the database manager from other NetBackup components are now routed to this pod.

Note:

This release does not support scale-out of BPDM pod.

Note:

In the above figure, NetBackup web services and NBPEM/NBJM are decoupled components. For more information refer to the following section:

A BPDBM pod consists of the following containers:

  • The main container for NetBackup database management (BPDBM)

  • PBX sidecar

  • Vnetd sidecar

  • Fluentbit sidecar

  • Housekeeping sidecar
