NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 8204

Message: Failed to establish SSL connection with the external KMS server.

Explanation: After initial connection to EKMS server and SSL context initialization, the SSL connection cannot be established with an EKMS server.

This issue is possible in the following circumstances:

  • When a certificate is invalid or it is expired.

  • The passphrase of a private key is not valid.

  • A certificate cannot be verified with the trust store CA.

Recommended Action: Review the credentials (private key, certificate, CA certificate, passphrase for private key) that are used to connect to EKMS server.
