NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 8304

Message: The global data-in-transit encryption setting cannot be fetched.

Explanation: The global data-in-transit encryption setting cannot be fetched from the bpcd service running on the primary server. As a result of this lack of communication, multiple NetBackup operations such as backup, restore, duplication, import, and others fail.

Recommended Action: Perform the following:

  1. Ensure that the bpcd service is running on the primary server.

  2. Retry the operation and if the issue persists, visit support.veritas.com. The Cohesity Technical Support website offers additional information to help you troubleshoot this issue. If you do contact Cohesity Technical Support, you need to have the following primary server logs available to help troubleshoot the issue:

    • nbwebservice

    • nbjm

    • bprd

    • bpcd
