Upgrade to a new installation directory
When the physical paths point to a different program folder, Upgrade.bat copies the central Config files from the old folder to the new folder before it starts the database steps.
For example, this applies when you move the installation from C:\Program Files\...\11.2 to D:\NSS\11.2. The copied files include machine.secrets.enc and connectionStrings.json.
After a successful upgrade, Upgrade.bat removes the central Config files from the old folder only after the destination Config validates successfully.
If the destination Config already exists, the ApplicationKey values in the source and destination folders must match. If they do not match, the upgrade stops.
