Manage a Data Guard

A Data Guard configuration in NetBackup consists of a Data Guard object with the attributes of a Data Guard name, a database name, and a database ID.

View Data Guard details

You can view the list of RAC databases or single instance databases that are associated with a Data Guard configuration.

To view Data Guard details

  1. On the left, click Workloads > Oracle and then click the Data Guard tab.
  2. Click on the Data Guard name.

The Databases tab contains the details of the databases that are associated with the Data Guard. The Permissions tab indicates any RBAC roles or permissions that are associated with the Data Guard.

Add a Data Guard

To add a Data Guard

  1. On the left, click Workloads > Oracle and then click the Data Guard tab.
  2. Click Add Data Guard.
  3. Select the databases to associate with the Data Guard.

You can only add the databases that have a matching Database name and Database ID to the same Data Guard configuration. When you select a database, non-matching databases are filtered out of the list.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Add any RBAC roles that you want to have access to the Data Guard.
  6. Click Finish.

Add a database to a Data Guard configuration

If a database has not been backed up with NetBackup and needs future access to the database backups that NetBackup stores, it must be added to the Data Guard configuration.

To add a database to a Data Guard configuration

  1. On the left, click Workloads > Oracle and then click the Data Guard tab.
  2. Select the Data Guard and click Edit.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select the database that you want to add.
  5. Click Save.

Remove a Data Guard

You can remove a Data Guard from NetBackup. For example, you may have decommissioned the Data Guard or renamed the database.

If you remove a Data Guard, backups that other members of the Data Guard produce are no longer accessible to the removed node.

To remove a Data Guard

  1. On the left, click Workloads > Oracle and then click the Data Guard tab.
  2. Select the Data Guard you want to remove and click Remove > Confirm.
