Catalog backup job fails with an error (Status 9202)

After upgrading to NetBackup Cloud Scale 11.1 or later, the catalog backup job fails with the following error message:

Error nbpem (pid=120) catalog backup exited with status 9202
(The service user account does not have the write permissions on the specified path.)

With version 11.1, the NetBackup Database Manager (BPDBM) has been moved from the primary pod to its own scaled-out service pod. As a result, certain volumes that were previously accessible to the primary pod are no longer available to BPDBM, which means that it cannot write to the following paths anymore:

  • /mnt/nblogs

  • /mnt/nbdb

Workaround:

Update the Disaster Recovery package destination path in your Catalog Backup policy to use a valid volume that BPDBM can access. Change the path to a location on the following volume:

/mnt/nbdata
