Configuring generic backup data collection

The following tasks must be performed as part of the Generic Backup Data Collection setup:

  • In the IT Analytics Portal, create a host of type: Generic Backup Server. This is the server that is managing the backups of the clients for which you will be importing backup data.

See Adding and Editing Hosts and Backup Servers .

  • In the IT Analytics Portal, add a Data Collector Policy of Product Type: Generic Backup. In this policy, supply the path to the CSV file.

See Add a generic backup Data Collector policy .

  • Create a comma-separated file of the backup/restore data--typically, a file that has been exported using the backup software utilities.

    See CSV Format Specification.
