Estimated LUN Usage/Availability

Several Capacity Manager reports display certain LUN values as estimated--Estimated Usage, Estimated Available. These values are estimated because of the following logic for deriving the values:

  • A volume group has members that are made up of many disks.

  • These disks may be local disks or LUNs from one or more arrays.

  • Partitions are created from a volume group and then the partition is mounted onto a host, so that the host can use the mounted partition.

  • Because of the above sequence, Capacity Manager cannot determine which partition came from which LUN. Therefore, using the available information, the values are estimated.
