EMC Symmetrix Disk Performance

Explore your data center using customizable report templates or by using parts of your IT infrastructure as entry points. Use Search to find reports, templates and dashboards across the portal.

Use the Reports tab to examine the catalog of templates, dashboards and reports - organized by products along with user-created, and system folders. This report is located here:

Capacity Manager > Storage Performance > EMC Symmetrix Disk Performance

View a table of Symmetrix disk performance metrics.

Metrics listed in the report, by array and device, include capacity, Average Busy %, Average Queue Depth, Response Times (Average Read and Write), Input/Output Operations Per Second - IOPS (Average Read and Write), and data transfer rates (Average Read and Write MBps). Values represented in this report are averages for the time period.

Column name

Description

Array Name

Name of the storage array. This name is derived from the Symmetrix ID.

Vendor

Vendor/Manufacturer of the disk.

Serial #

Serial number of the disk. Example: 3LN3216B.

Avg Busy%

The percent of time that the disk is busy serving IOs.

Max Busy%

The MAX of the percent of time that the disk is busy serving IOs.

Avg Queue Depth

Calculated value: Accumulated queue depth/total SCSI command per sec.

Max Queue Depth

Calculated value: Max of the Accumulated queue depth/total SCSI command per sec.

Avg Read Latency

The average time it took the disk to serve one read command.

Max Read Latency

Max of the average time it took the disk to serve one read command.

Read Latency Std Dev

The Std Dev of the average time it took the disk to serve one read command.

Avg Write Latency

The average time it took the disk to serve one write command.

Max Write Latency

The Max of the average time it took the disk to serve one write command.

Write Latency Std Dev

The Std Dev of the average time it took the disk to serve one write command.

Avg IOPS

The number of host read and write requests for the disk.

Max IOPS

The Max of the number of host read and write requests for the disk.

Avg Read IOPS

The number of host reads per second for the disk.

Max Read IOPS

The Max of the number of host reads per second for the disk.

Avg Write IOPS

The number of host writes per second for the disk.

Max Write IOPS

The Max of the number of host writes per second for the disk.

Avg MB Read

The read throughput (MBs) of the disk per second.

Max MB Read

The Max of the read throughput (MBs) of the disk per second.

Avg MB Written

The write throughput (MBs) of the disk per second.

Max MB Written

The max of the write throughput (MBs) of the disk per second.
