VM Guest Disk R/W Profiles for Cloud Migration

This report uses historical disk read/write patterns in order to categorize VMs into Low, Medium, and High in relation to their peers. This will help determine the right size and type of cloud storage that will be required for migration.

Use the Reports tab to examine the catalog of templates, dashboards and reports - organized by products along with user-created, and system folders. This report is located here:

Column name

Description

VM Guest

Also known as a VM Instance, it is the logical server running on a VM Server.

Note:

All host names within a domain must be unique, especially when the VM cloning occurs.

Power State

Current power state of the VM as of last collection. Possible value is either PoweredOn or PoweredOff.

Sum R/W

The sum total of all the reads and writes combined over the given time frame.

Avg R/W

The average of all the reads and writes combined over the given time frame.

Peak R/W

The most reads and writes in a single day over the given time frame.

R/W Percentile

To what percentile do the reads and writes rank when compared to their peers.

R/W Usage

The ranking of the reads and writes based on their percentile. Possible values are Low, Medium, or High.

R/W % of Total

What percentage of reads and writes is the VM doing compared to the total of all read and writes.

Capacity

Size of storage that is allocated to this VM.

Arrays

The name of the storage array or arrays attached to the VM.

#LUNs

The number of storage logical units allocated to this VM from the storage array(s).

LUNs

The name(s) of the logical units allocated to this VM from the storage array(s).
