  4. LDAP and SSO authentication for Portal access
  5. Overview

Overview

IT Analytics supports user authentication and authorization using:

  • Active Directory (AD) or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP): IT Analytics supports user authentication and optionally supports authorization using Active Directory (AD) or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).

  • Single Sign On (SSO) for a standard unified login: IT Analytics supports Single Sign On (SSO) for a standard unified login. User authentication is performed through an external Identity Management Server allowing for an increased level of security for user passwords and identity details.

IT Analytics can support both authentication types simultaneously or individually as required. User's login experience changes based on the authentication type set for the user or the user group from the Portal.

Portal login options

Based on the options enabled for SSO and LDAP from the Portal, the following options appear on the login screen:

  • For Active Directory (AD) or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), the login page displays LDAP and Local as options in the Authentication Type drop-down list.

  • For SSO authentication, the login page displays an additional login option of SIGN IN WITH SINGLE SIGN ON. Users can click SIGN IN WITH SINGLE SIGN ON to login to the Portal.

  • For local authentication, the login page displays an option for local authentication. Users can select Local authentication to login using local credentials.

Note:

If the Portal was upgraded from a lower version, you may have to clear the browser cache for the authentication type and SSO options to appear on the login screen.

Configure authentication for Portal access

Configuration of AD/LDAP authentication and authorization is driven through the LDAP configuration screen.

The prerequisites and steps to enable user authentication are described under the following sections:

  • See Configure AD/LDAP.

  • See Configure single sign-on (SSO).
