Brocade Fenced Port Data Collection
A fenced port is a port that Brocade MAPS (Monitoring and Alerting Policy Suite) automatically disables when a monitored threshold is exceeded to isolate a problematic link and protect the SAN fabric.
IT Analytics now identifies these ports in inventory and reports, providing visibility into SAN enforcement events. Previously, IT Analytics did not parse the Fenced Ports line in the mapsdb --show command output, although it collected related conditions such as decommissioned ports, fenced circuits, and quarantined ports.
The Port Summary report displays fenced port data. The column shows whether Brocade MAPS has automatically fenced (disabled) each port, so you can identify SAN enforcement events directly from this report.
IT Analytics collects fenced port status only through the Brocade CLI (SSH) collection method by using the mapsdb --show command. The SMI-S collection method does not support this data.
This feature reports whether individual physical and logical Fibre Channel (FC) ports are fenced (isFenced, Y/N). It does not apply to fenced circuits, which are a separate MAPS condition that IT Analytics already reports. The feature provides read-only visibility and does not include real-time alerts or automated remediation.
The new Fenced column is available in the and reports under ; the Ports Portlet and Port Details Portlet on the under ; and, as an optional column, the switch FC port inventory list in .
