About resiliency groups with InfoScale applications
Resiliency groups are the unit of management and control in Veritas Resiliency Platform. After assets are added to Resiliency Platform, you organize related assets into a resiliency group that you can protect and manage as a single entity.
For example, you can organize several InfoScale applications into a resiliency group and name it App_Group_A. Then, when you perform an operation on App_Group_A from the Resiliency Platform console, all the applications in the group are affected. For example, if you start App_Group_A, all the applications in the group start.
Note:
A resiliency group must contain similar types of objects, either all applications, or all InfoScale applications, or all virtual machines. It cannot contain a mix of the three.
Resiliency groups are most useful when the assets in the group share common characteristics. Follow the guidelines for selecting assets:
The selected InfoScale applications in the resiliency group should be from the same Global Cluster Option (GCO) pair. You cannot add InfoScale applications from different GCO pairs. Ensure that GCO is enabled before you can configure the resiliency group for monitoring or disaster recovery operations.
The InfoScale applications in the resiliency group should not be from different data centers. (You need to select the applications from single data centers to add into the resiliency group.)
The selected InfoScale applications should belong to a single service group dependency tree.
The operations available for a resiliency group depend on how it is configured. During the configuration of a resiliency group, you apply a service objective that identifies the objective or intent for that group of assets. If you apply a service objective that supports remote recovery, the resiliency group supports operations like migrate and take over.
You can optionally use a service objective that only monitors the assets and provides only basic operation capabilities like start and stop operations and no remote recovery operations.
Until 3.4 version, Veritas Resiliency Platform would let you manage the InfoScale applications that are already configured in Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager. The InfoScale applications are automatically discovered in the Resiliency Platform when the Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager server is added to the resiliency domain. From 10.4version, the dependency of adding Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager into resiliency domain is removed.
If you have Infoscale applications managed by Resiliency Platform 3.4 version and you upgrade to Resiliency Platform10.4, then you are required to move the cluster discovery to IMS. (add link to move cluster topic)
The InfoScale applications are discovered using Infrastructure management Server when the corresponding Infoscale clusters are configured into Veritas Resiliency Platform. <add link to configuring clusters topic)
