Prerequisites for network customization
Ensure the following prerequisites are met before you customized the IP addresses and the DNS settings.
IP, Gateway, Netmask, DNS, Domain Name, Mac address etc. information should be present in the respective files of each network interface for which you want to customize the IP and DNS.
If multiple network interfaces (NICs) are assigned to a virtual machine, then you need to apply IP customization to all the NICs.
For virtual machines that are running on Linux ensure that NetworkManager and libvirtd service is in off state.
For IP customization of Windows and Linux virtual machines in VMware environment, you need to install VMware Tools or OpenVM Tools on the virtual machines. This is applicable if the recovery data center is vCloud Director or on-premises data center. If a virtual machine has RHEL 7.0 or 7.1 version and it has OpenVM Tools version prior to 9.10, you need to install an additional package DeployPkg on the virtual machines.
Virtual machines which are running on Hyper-V platform ensure that FQDN is set for each virtual machine.
The mac address configuration should be set as Manual/Static so that it does not change after the DR operation is performed. This is applicable only for recovery to on-premises data center.
For IP customization of Windows virtual machines through IP customization service, following are the prerequisites for installation of Veritas Resiliency Platform Guest Customization Agent:
Domain / Local user should be part of Administrators group.
