Installing Veritas Replication VIB
To configure the VMware virtual machines for recovery to on-premises data center using Resiliency Platform Data Mover, you need to install the Veritas Replication vSphere Installation Bundle (VIB) on the ESXi cluster.
To install Veritas replication VIB
- Prerequisites
Ensure that the following prerequisites are met:
- Navigate
Settings (menu bar) > Infrastructure > Details View
You can also access this page from the Quick Actions menu.
- Select the data center and click Data Mover.
- Under Resiliency Platform Data Mover tab, in Replication ESXi Clusters table click Install Veritas Replication VIB.
- Select one or more cluster on which you want to install Veritas Replication VIB and click Next.
- When Veritas Replication VIB is installed on the cluster, the cluster is listed under Replication ESXi Clusters. You can also verify the installation of Veritas Replication VIB on the cluster by checking in the vCenter console. Here the VIB package is listed as
vtstappackage. - After successful installation of VIB, you can create resiliency groups by grouping the virtual machines together.
Following steps has to be followed to keep host profile compliant in case of stateless ESX. These steps has been validated with a cluster of two stateless ESX hosts booted using an Image (let's call this as ImgProf_Org). As an example, following steps uses Resiliency Platform VIB 3.5 but the steps are same for any other version as well.
To install Veritas replication VIB for stateless ESX
- Clone
ImgProf_org(original image profile) toImgProf_VIB3.5and include VIB 3.5 VIB by editing software package. - Create a deploy rule AD_VIB3.5 and include image profile
ImgProf_VIB3.5and host profile (for example: HP_vtstap) in it. - Activate
AD_VIB3.5for both the ESX. - Reboot both ESX hosts in the cluster (Host profile (HP_vtstap) will become compliant).
- Install VIB 3.5 using Resiliency Platform interface (This will install VIB on cluster). Note that the same VIB version has to be installed using Resiliency Platform UI (Host profie (HP_vtstap) remains compliant).
