About IPv6 network support in Resiliency Platform
Resiliency Platform 10.4 now enables IPv6 network support. This network support is enabled for the virtual machines with static IP address or the DHCP IP address.
IPv6 network is supported for the following scenarios: ·
Recovery of VMware virtual machines using NetBackup
Recovery of VMware virtual machines to on-premises data center using Resiliency Platform Data Mover
Recovery of VMware virtual machines using following third-party replication technologies:
HP 3PAR Remote Copy
EMC Recoverpoint
NetApp SnapMirror
Resiliency Platform 10.4 does not enable IPv6 network support for:
Network Address Translation (NAT)
DHCP server for virtual appliance with static IP address
Following are the situations where you can use an IPv6 address in the Resiliency Platform:
The NICs which are shipped along with the Resiliency Platform virtual appliances can now be configured using IPv6 address. During the bootstrap process, the NICs of the virtual appliances can be configured as:
IPv4-only
IPv6-only
Both (IPv4 and IPv6 addresses)
The hostname should be same even if the IP addresses are different for the NICs.
Using Klish menu, you can now view the details of the NICs configured using IPv4 and IPv6 address for the Resiliency Manager, IMS and Replication Gateway. See About klish.
While configuring the virtual appliance, you can use a DNS server or NTP server having IPv6 address.
The assets like hosts, enclosures (storage arrays), NetBackup primary server, and virtualization servers, can now be configured using their hostname or IPv6 address. The hostname should be same even if the IP addresses of the assets are different. It is recommended to configure the assets, enclosures and virtualization server using hostname instead of IP address.
For IP customization of the protected virtual machines, the user defined subnets can be added using the IPv6 address and can be paired across data centers.
Subnet mapping across data centers can only be done for:
IPv4 subnet to IPv4 subnet mapping
IPv6 subnet to IPv6 subnet mapping
While creating a resiliency group, you can add the virtual machines which contains IPv6 address.
SMTP server and, Syslog server can now be configured using IPv6 address.
