Cohesity 5372 Appliance overview
The Cohesity 5372 Appliance is a hardware and software storage system that scales up to a total of 1,920 TiB (2,112 TB) of usable backup capacity. It consists of one or two 2U 5372 Appliance compute nodes and one required externally attached 5U84 Primary Storage Shelf, which is used for data storage purposes.
The Cohesity 5372 Appliance model only supports Opal-compliant Self-encrypting drives (SED) for both the head node and the Storage shelves. This enhances the data security and protection capability of the Flex appliances by keeping data stored on the appliance safe at all times, including at rest. Self-encrypting drives (SEDs) or Full Disk Encryption (FDE) technology encrypts data as it is written to the disk. Each disk has a disk encryption key (DEK) that is to be set at the time of deployment using a passphrase which is compliant to the UTF-8 standard. The disk uses the DEK to encrypt data as it writes, and then to decrypt the data as it is read from disk. The operation of the disk, and its encryption and decryption, is transparent to the application, host and end user who are reading and writing data.
The Cohesity 5372 Appliance supports the following software:
Flex Appliance 7.0 and above
By itself, the 5372 Appliance compute node does not provide internal disk space for data storage. You can add up to three optional 5U84 Expansion Storage Shelves if you require additional data storage space.
SAS-3 cables connect the 5372 Appliance compute nodes to 5U84 Primary Storage Shelf RAID controllers. SAS-3 cables also connect 5U84 Primary Storage Shelves to the optional 5U84 Expansion Storage Shelves.
See About 5U84 storage shelves.
Note:
Total usable backup capacity depends on the hardware configuration you purchase.
