Docker on Ubuntu | Supported version: Docker 18.09 and later For detailed instructions on installing the Docker on Ubuntu, see Install Docker Engine on Ubuntu. |
Podman on RHEL 9, 8.x Podman on OEL 9 and 8.8 | Supported version: Podman 4.0.2 and later If NetBackup Snapshot Manager is being deployed in the AWS cloud, ensure that you enable the extra repos: # sudo yum-config-manager --enable rhui-REGION-rhel-server-extras Ensure that the following services are enabled and running: # systemctl enable podman-restart # systemctl start podman-restart # systemctl enable podman.socket # systemctl start podman.socket If NetBackup Snapshot Manager is being deployed in OCI cloud:

If you use Podman as the container runtime, configure the parameter to support the expected workload and avoid container lock exhaustion issues.
For information about the setting, refer to the Red Hat article: Why is podman exec failing with the error message "exceeded num_locks (2048)" in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
The following table lists the recommended values:
Table: Recommended values for num_locks
Deployment size | Maximum concurrent jobs | Recommended num_locs |
|---|---|---|
Small | ≤ 50 | 2048 (default) |
Medium | 50-200 | 4096 |
Large (for example, 672 GB RAM and 96 CPUs) | ~480 | 4096 |
Very high container churn or large numbers of stopped containers | Any | 8192 |
Caution:
Set the value before installing NetBackup Snapshot Manager for Cloud to ensure adequate capacity for the expected workload.
