Restore files from OLVM VM backups (Single file restore)

You can restore individual files from an OLVM VM backup without restoring the entire VM. Two methods are available.

Method 1: Restore to a NetBackup Client inside the guest VM

This method requires the NetBackup client to be installed inside the guest VM (not on the hypervisor host).

In the NetBackup Web UI, navigate to Recovery and click Start recovery.
Select the Policy type as KVM.
Select the Source client and Destination client.
Select a target directory.
Click Restore. The files are transferred to the specified NetBackup client to the selected location.

Method 2: Download Files from the NetBackup Web UI

This method does not require an agent in the guest VM. Files are downloaded directly through the NetBackup Web UI.

In the NetBackup Web UI, navigate to Workloads > KVM. This option is not available from Recovery.
Select the OLVM VM asset, then select a backup image (recovery point).
Click Recover and choose Download files and folders.
Browse the file system of the backup image and select the files to download.
Click Download.
The selected files are downloaded to your browser download location.
