Step 1: Recovery Host and Other Options
This step collects the VMware server parameters and destination configuration. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
Table: Conversion to Virtual Machine
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
Display name * | Enter the display name for the virtual machine to be created. |
NetBackup recovery host * | Select the NetBackup client host to use as the Virtual Instance Converter (VIC) or recovery host. This host prepares the VM on the VMware server. The VIC OS family must match the client OS family (for example, a Windows client requires a Windows-based VIC). Do not use the NetBackup primary or media server as the VIC, as VM creation is resource-intensive |
VMWare Tools ISO * | Enter the absolute path to the VMware tools .iso file on the recovery host. For details See Pre-requisites to create VM from backup . |
vCenter server * | Select the vCenter server. For a standalone ESX server, select None. |
ESX Server * | Enter or select the ESX server name. |
Datacenter | This is populated based on the selected vCenter or ESX server. Click to modify. |
Folder * | Select the VMware folder where the destination VM will be created. Click the search icon to browse. |
Resource Pool or vApp* | Select the resource pool or vApp. Click the search icon to browse available options. |
Datastore or datastore cluster * | Select the datastore or datastore cluster for virtual disk storage. Click the search icon to browse datastores connected to the ESX server. |
Use the same datastore or datastore cluster for all VMDKs | If selected, all virtual disks are created on the same datastore or datastore cluster. If not selected, you can map individual VMDKs to different datastores in Step 3: Storage Destination. |
