NetBackup™ Deduplication Guide

Universal share with disabled MSDP data volumes

Universal share supports multiple data volumes. The data and the metadata are balanced to all the configured data volume. In a multiple data volumes environment, universal share supports the ability to disable one or more than one of the data volumes for universal share. The data and the metadata for the new files are no longer written to a disabled data volume. However, universal share still may read data or metadata for the existing files. When object store is enabled for universal share, the local disk data will no longer write to the disabled data volume as well.

Note:

The first data volume cannot be disabled for universal share.

To disable a data volume for universal share:

  1. Use the crcontrol command to disable a data volume:

    crcontrol --dswriteoff [path]

  2. Restart universal share:

    vpfs_mounts stop
    vpfs_mounts start
