NetBackup™ Deduplication Guide

Starting the MSDP server evacuation

Before initiating the evacuation process for an MSDP server, complete the following preparation steps:

  • Review the prerequisites that are required for MSDP server evacuation.

See Prerequisites for MSDP server evacuation.

  • Create a dedicated storage unit that is associated with the current MVG volume you plan to evacuate. This storage unit will be used as the destination storage of the evacuation. Use a storage unit that is not currently used for regular NetBackup operations to avoid interference during evacuation.

Specify the desired maximum concurrent job number in the storage unit.

See Configuring the maximum concurrent number of jobs in the storage unit.

To start the MSDP server evacuation

  1. In the left navigation pane, go to Storage > Disk storage.
  2. Click the Disk pools tab.
  3. Locate the MVG disk pool that contains the MVG disk volume with the MSDP server and disk volume to be evacuated.
  4. Click the MVG disk pool to open the MVG disk pool details.
  5. In the Disk volumes table, find the disk volume, and click Evacuate from the Actions menu on the right.
  6. Select the storage unit which is associated with the current MVG volume and click Start.
