Changing the port for Portal server communication

Apache HTTP Web Server is listening on one port on the Portal Server for incoming requests--port 80, by default. You can configure Apache HTTP Web Server to use an alternative port. However, all incoming requests--that is, requests from all agents, browsers, etc.--pass through the new port. The best practice is to choose one port for everything, but this isn't always feasible. If you want to have some agents use one port, and everything else use the default port 80, there is a solution.

To configure the Apache HTTP Web Server to use a different port on the Portal Server

  1. Create a separate instance of Apache HTTP Web Server on a separate server using a standard install.
  2. Update the Apache HTTP Web Server configuration to listen on the new port.
  3. Configure that separate server to communicate with the Reporting Database.
