Creating a Replication Gateway pair
To protect assets using Resiliency Platform Data Mover replication technology, you must create Replication Gateway pairs.
To create a Replication Gateway pair
- Prerequisites
A Replication Gateway must be deployed and configured in each data center. Ensure that each gateway can resolve the hostname of its peer gateways.
Replication Gateways belonging to the pair must be configured to use the same mode of replication, Direct or Object Storage. After you create a pair, using either modes of replication, you cannot edit the replication modes. You need to delete the pair and re-create.
If your recovery data center is AWS and you are using Object Storage for replication, ensure that a Data Gateway is deployed and configured on the AWS data center before you create the Replication Gateway pair.
For a Replication Gateway in AWS data center, ensure that the gateway has an IAM role with required permissions attached to it.
See Permissions required for IAM roles for Resiliency Manager, IMS, and Replication Gateway.
- Navigate
Infrastructure Pairing (navigation pane)
Replication Appliance tab > + Replication Gateway Pair
- Specify the following information in the wizard:
Select the hostnames to be used by the gateways to be paired for communication between gateways at the source and target data centers and for communication between the assets and the gateway.
To do one-time migration of your assets to a data center in AWS using Object Storage, select Use Object Storage for replication.
If Use Object Storage for replication is selected, then select a Data Gateway.
Edit the default name of the gateway pair. This is optional.
Change the data encryption scheme selection. This is optional, but if you use Object Storage for replication then the default encryption scheme is AES256-GCM-SHA384 which cannot be edited.
Specify the Server Gateway if any using the Select Server Gateway dropdown.
A Server Gateway is the gateway among the pair which can accept incoming network connections on ports 443 and 8089 during initial handshake and recovery operations. If both replication gateways can accept incoming network connections, then you can keep the field blank or select any one replication gateway.
When you submit, a message confirms that the pairing configuration is initiated. You can view the progress of the operation on the Activities pane.
Once the operation is complete, the gateway pair is listed on the Replication Appliance tab. When connection between gateways is established, the gateway pair state is Connected.
