To grow disk as part of configuration drift edit
Resiliency Platform does not support growing the disk size as part of configuration drift. But if you still want to expand or grow the disk size without performing the full sync operation, perform the below mentioned steps:
For virtual machines protected using VMware Hypervisor based Resiliency Platform Data Mover using VAIO
- Create a temporary or dummy virtual machine in the vCenter server and keep the virtual machine power off.
- Flush IO's to the disk so that data is consistent. Detach the disk from the virtual machine which you want to grow.
- Attach this disk to the temporary or dummy powered off virtual machine and grow the disk to the desired size.
- Perform configuration drift edit operation on the resiliency group to cleanup the configuration for the detached disks.
- Detach the disk from temporary or dummy powered off virtual machine and attach those disks back to workload virtual machine.
- Perform configuration drift edit operation on the resiliency group. This should create configuration for this disk with the new size which syncs with the grown disk.
- Remove the temporary or dummy virtual machine.
For virtual machines protected using Resiliency Platform Data Mover with in-guest replication
- Flush IO's to the disk so that data is consistent. Detach the disk from the virtual machine which you want to grow.
- Perform configuration drift edit operation on the resiliency group to cleanup the configuration.
- Attach the disk back to the virtual machine and grow the disk to the desired size.
