Configuring MSDP S3 object import
This section describes the steps to configure MSDP S3 object import between a production and a replica domain.
To configure MSDP S3 object import
- In the production domain:
Configure an AIR storage lifecycle policy that replicates to the replica domain.
Configure an MSDP-Object-Store backup policy that uses this AIR SLP.
- In the replica domain:
Configure an AIR storage lifecycle policy that replicates back to the production domain.
Configure an MSDP-Object-Store backup policy with the same policy name as the one created in the production domain, using the same S3 bucket name as the production domain bucket.
Note:
This step is optional. Configure it when the replica domain is expected to take over as the production domain after a disaster recovery event, so that objects created there can be synchronized back once the original production domain is recovered.
- On the source MSDP storage server (for production-to-replica S3 object syncs, enable the import event for the policy:
cacontrol --s3import updatebypolicy <PolicyName> IMPORT_V1
- Repeat step 3 on the replica domain's storage server if you also want objects to sync in the reverse direction (replica to production).
- Write objects into the S3 bucket in the production domain.
- Run the MSDP-Object-Store backup policy. NetBackup creates the backup image, replicates it, and triggers the import automatically on the replica domain. No additional manual step is required after configuration.
Note:
Configure cacontrol --s3import only on the source MSDP storage server for a given replication direction.
