NetBackup™ Deduplication Guide

Recommendation for managing the data distribution

To ensure efficient and balanced data distribution across disk volumes in an MVG volume, follow these recommendations:

  • Monitor the trend of disk space usage across all disk volumes in the MVG volume.

  • If a disk volume is not utilized well, manually move client/policy assignments to or from it using the cacontrol --cluster set-cp-assignment command.

  • Add new disk volumes or expand the capacity of existing ones before they become full.

  • After adding new disk volumes, manually reassign some client/policy combinations to the new volumes to balance the load between old and new disk volumes.

  • Use the node failure handling procedure to manage disk volume failures effectively.

See About the node failure management.
